My wife and I would like to thank you all for the competence and excellent work carried out at our home, from the estimate and the fitter who plumbed in the new boiler, to the electrician who made our programmer work with the boiler, an excellent team of manpower seldom seen with so called professionals.
Baxi Megaflo System Boiler
The Baxi Megaflo system boiler comes from a company with a long tradition in the UK heating market. Baxi has operated in the UK since the mid-1800s, originating in Preston in Lancashire. Its current owners are based in the Netherlands, but it retains a big presence on this side of the North Sea and is one of the most recognisable names in the UK boiler market.
Baxi has a generally decent reputation for its products, including the Baxi Megaflo system boiler. However, it was rated as only the seventh best manufacturer in a recent report by the prestigious Which? Magazine. Unfortunately, the company feel down when it came to whether expert gas engineers would recommend the firm’s products.
As experienced and professional boiler installers, we work with models from a number of different companies, and that is why we recommend Worcester Bosch system boilers over the likes of the Baxi Megaflo system boiler. Worcester Bosch topped the report as the company has done for the majority of the last decade.
However, it is still worth looking closer at the Baxi Megaflo system boiler to see if it will suit your needs. You can read our review of the device below.
Baxi Megaflo System Boiler Features
The Baxi Megaflo system boiler is easy to use and ideal for houses where there is a high demand for hot water. System boilers pre-heat water that is stored in a cylinder until it is needed. This allows them to service multiple taps, showers and baths at the same time, whereas a combi boiler is better suited to a lower demand.
There is a seven-year warranty with the Baxi Megaflo system boiler, which is a decent length and shows confidence from the manufacturer in the quality of the device. There are five different versions of this boiler to choose from, depending on the output size you need to handle your family’s central heating and hot water use. These options for selection are the 15kW, 18kW, 24kW, 28kW and 32kW models.
Each of the different models is A-rated, meaning that they waste minimal energy in the process of running the boiler. A higher amount of the fuel used to fire the boiler is turned into usable heat than is the case with older, less efficient boilers. This means that you should save money on your heating bills and reduce your carbon footprint.
The controls are straightforward and simple, making using the boiler easy for anyone.
Baxi 40kW System Boiler
If the top spec Baxi Megaflo system boiler isn’t powerful enough for your home, you might attempt to look for a Baxi 40kW system boiler. Unfortunately, this product does not exist, meaning those with large houses looking for a Baxi boiler to heat their home will be disappointed.
To take a step up from the largest of the Baxi Megaflo range, you could look at the latest products on offer from Worcester Bosch. Their Greenstar Lifestyle system boilers go up to a mighty 35kW and come with all the latest features to make your heating as efficient as possible. In addition, the Worcester Bosch Greenstar Lifestyle boilers are designed to look great hanging on your wall, featuring a slick and modern finish with a full digital display. You also have the added peace of mind that you are installing a boiler from Which? Magazine’s most highly recommended manufacturer
Despite there being no Baxi 40kW system boiler, there are some 40kW combi boilers from the firm. The Baxi Duo-tec combi boiler features a 40kW model that can heat larger homes that have up to two bathrooms. There is also the Baxi Platinum combi and the Baxi Platinum+ combi too.
Baxi Boiler Prices
Baxi boiler prices vary depending on the exact model you wish to install. Another factor that affects the cost is the work involved with the installation itself. At Clever Energy Boilers, we don’t want you to suffer any nasty surprises, so we will always price up the job fully before we get the go ahead to begin work on the project.
In order to work out what the job entails, we send around an experienced and professional member of staff to carry out a home survey. This is absolutely free and there is no obligation to go ahead with the work if you don’t wish to. They will assess the number of rooms, the amount of radiators and the likely heat loss from the property amongst other factors. They will also take into account whether you are looking to swap a system boiler for another system boiler, in which case it will be generally straightforward if the new model fits into the same position, or if you want to fit a Baxi Megaflo system boiler where there is currently a combi boiler.
The more work involved, such as moving pipework or installing new flues, the more the job will cost.
Our staff member will present you with a recommendation for the size of boiler that suits your needs best and will quote for the boiler and installation work combined. This price is frozen and that is exactly what you will pay if you choose to go ahead with the installation.
Baxi Combi Boiler
If a system boiler is not right for you, there are plenty of Baxi combi boiler options available. Although they are not suitable for homes with high hot water demand, they are extremely effective in properties with just one or two bathrooms.
From the Baxi 200 combi range to the Platinum+ combi, you will find a vast array of sizes and styles. The top of the range Baxi combi boiler options feature ten-year warranties, which is comforting as you know they will be fixed or replaced if anything happens in the first decade.
Each of the Baxi combi boilers are A-rated for efficiency for both central heating and hot water. However, some of the more powerful devices are only Boiler Plus compliant, the standard for efficiency in UK boilers, when combined with certain time and temperature controls.
Although the Baxi products are generally well reviewed and offer decent quality, we would recommend Worcester Bosch products ahead of theirs. The brand new Greenstar Lifestyle series really is a step ahead of the rest of the sector, with both combi boilers and system boilers putting the likes of the Baxi Megaflo system boiler in the shade.
