Whether you have suffered a boiler breakdown or you simply want to buy a new, efficient model to cut your energy bills, there are a number of things to consider. Take a look at this article and find out what you need to think about before you jump in and select the type and model of boiler that will heat your home for years to come.

What Kind of Boiler Do I Need?
There are three main types of boiler:
- Combi
- System
- Regular
The type you need depends on a number of factors, including the size of your property and the way you use your heating and hot water. A combi boiler is the most common boiler type, heating both the radiators and hot water from one single unit. This is great for small and medium-sized houses with one or two bathrooms. However, a system boiler with a separate hot water cylinder is better for houses with greater water demand, as you don’t see the significant reduction in hot water flow rates when using multiple hot water sources like you do with a combi boiler.
It might be that you currently have a combi boiler that is struggling to meet your needs. Or you may have a system boiler, but a combi would do and would also create more space by allowing you to take out the hot water cylinder.
Before you buy a boiler, discuss your needs with an expert. We provide a free, no-obligation survey that will assess the home and your needs to make sure you get exactly the right product.
Will There be a Boiler Ban?
You might have heard of the gas boiler ban and wonder whether you should buy a boiler at all. Do not worry about it. This only applies to newbuild houses from 2025, so there is absolutely no problem in exchanging a gas boiler for another gas boiler in an existing home.
Which Boiler Brands are the Best?
We are Worcester Bosch accredited installers and would highly recommend their boilers. But you don’t just need to take our word for it. The consumer magazine Which? has awarded Worcester Bosch with the title of best boiler brand for the last twelve years in a row. This shows the quality and reliability that comes with a Worcester bosch boiler and there is no greater compliment than Which? recommending your products to the public.
We do supply other boilers too. Ideal and Vaillant also supply good quality boilers that we have installed in the homes of many happy customers.
What Can I Add to Save More Money?
Installing a new, efficient boiler to replace an old model can save hundreds of pounds a year for householders. This is because a larger percentage of the energy used to power the boiler is turned into heat for the home and less is wasted. You use less gas in total and, therefore, your bill goes down.
But there are other things you can do to save additional cash. Adding smart thermostats, for example, allows you more precision control over your central heating, meaning you never use more energy than you need. Some smart stats pick up on your location to either put the heating on or to hold off as you are still some distance away. For anyone with irregular schedules, this means that the home isn’t heated unnecessarily when you are not going to be back for hours. Smart tech can also learn which rooms you rarely use and are therefore not worth heating.
