How Do You Know You Need a New Boiler Replacement?
Here are the telltale signs that you need a new boiler replacement:
- Your boiler will cost more to repair than to replace. Otherwise known as being ‘beyond economical repair’.
- The current boiler struggles to provide the level of central heating or hot water you require in your home.
- You have developed your home and your current type of boiler doesn’t fit the bill anymore. For example, you have added an extra bathroom, so you might need to shift from a combi boiler to a system boiler.
- Your current boiler is an old model with an inferior efficiency rating, which means it is costing you more on your energy bills and damaging the environment by wasting fuel.
- The boiler in your home at present is eight or more years old, which means it is likely to start losing efficiency and become more prone to breakdowns. The boiler usually lasts between 10 and 15 years, but more noticeable deterioration sometimes begins from around eight years.
Other reasons you might look into a boiler replacement include the worry about an older boiler posing more of a risk of a carbon monoxide leak, or to add an A-rated boiler to make your home seem more attractive if you are about to put it on the market.
If any of these reasons for a home boiler replacement meet your personal situation, it is time to talk to Clever Energy Boilers about installing an efficient, robust and hard wearing new model.
Boiler Replacement Options
There are three main boiler replacement options available to you:
- Combi Boilers – These are the single units which take in water from the mains supply whenever you turn on the hot tap, and heat it up on demand. Combis are the most popular type of boiler in the country and are generally the cheapest, due to having fewer working parts to worry about than the other boiler replacement options. A combi boiler replacement is recommended for homes with up to two bathrooms, as they struggle to supply hot water simultaneously to more than that.
- System Boilers – For larger homes, or those with two or more bathrooms, a replacement system boiler is likely to be the best option. With a system boiler, you preheat water and store it in a hot water cylinder until you need to use it. This means that your taps run hot more quickly than with a combi boiler, but when the hot water is gone, you have to wait for a cylinder’s worth to heat up again before you can use any.
- Regular Boilers – Also known as conventional boilers, these feature a hot water cylinder as well as a cold water tank, usually situated in the loft. Rather than the mains water entering the cylinder directly, it fills the tank, which supplies the cylinder. A regular boiler replacement is possible, but less common than a boiler replacement featuring a combi or system boiler.
Other boiler replacement options include the different types of fuel used to power the boiler, including LPG and oil. In order to work out which boiler replacement your home needs, we send an experienced member of staff to survey your home for free, on a no-obligation process.
Boiler Replacement Cost
There is no fixed boiler replacement cost, because each installation is different. However, at the end of our home survey, we can provide you with quotes for the entire job, including the boiler itself and the fitting, plus the controls that you want to use with it. These prices will be fixed while you decide whether to go ahead with the new boiler replacement. It also means that you don’t need to worry about any hidden fees. The price we quote is the price you will pay.
Different makes and models of boiler vary in price dramatically. You can find relatively cheap models, but you will often end up replacing them sooner and spending more on repairs while they are installed in your home. Clever Energy Boilers recommends Worcester Bosch and, although a Worcester boiler replacement isn’t among the cheapest, the build quality and efficiency make them the best boilers for your home. They have topped the poll in the annual boiler manufacturer report in Which? for the past ten years in a row.
Your gas boiler replacement cost also depends on the amount of work it will take to install the new device. If it needs to move location or there is a lot of pipework to reroute, that will affect the boiler replacement cost estimate. Looking for the average cost of a boiler replacement is not particularly helpful, which is why we come to visit your home and provide a personalised quote for the job.
0% Finance Boiler Replacement
If you are looking for a 0% finance boiler replacement, you can take advantage of our Buy Now Pay Later scheme. Under this deal, you buy the boiler and have twelve months to pay. If you settle the full bill within the 12 months, you pay no interest (although you may be liable for an early exit fee depending on when you make the payment). If you would still prefer to defer the payment for the boiler, you can turn the 0% finance boiler replacement scheme into 120 monthly payments, although you would be liable for interest.
An alternative to the Buy Now Pay Later deal is the Low Monthly Payments scheme, spread out over up to ten years. Under this plan, you can make extra payments to shorten the term and lower the interest you will pay on your new boiler replacement.
See the Clever Ways to Pay page for more information.
