WE will ensure you pick the right boiler for your needs and show you how to lower those dreaded bills using NEW intelligent technology.
There has been a lot of discussion in the media about boiler savings and increased efficiency. In the past ten year’s things have progressed along nicely in the boiler industry. This has been fuelled by hikes in energy bills and a need to cut emissions for EU targets, you can now make incredible savings by choosing the right system. In fact, it is claimed that you can reduce your bills by as much as 50% by installing a NEW A Rated Boiler and adding a Smart thermostat and it is this information you need to know.
Whether you get your boiler from us or another partner, this guide will help you on your way to success. So, what’s changed and what do you need to know?
Let’s start with the 3 different boiler systems.
1. The Combi Boiler
This Combi boiler is the most popular choice in the UK due to its efficiency and its discrete installation capability in limited space such as a kitchen cupboard. A Combi Boiler offers a combination of both hot water and central heating solution from one central unit. There is no need for a separate hot water cylinder as the system offers hot water on demand directly from your supply.
- The Main Attributes of a Combi Boiler
- Compact Size perfect solution for limited space
- No bulky water cylinder
- Hot Water available on demand
- Only heat the water you use
- No need to store water and No immersion heater in case of emergencies
- Heat to radiators on demand
- New A rated Eco efficient models with savings estimated at £30%
- Can make a significant impact on bill reduction
- Most popular choice in the UK recommended by The Energy Savings Trust as you can save up to £340 on your yearly bill
water pressure can be lost whilst using more than one tap
2. Conventional Boilers
This is a gravity fed water system with the feeder and expansion tank kept in the loft. A separate water cylinder is located in an airing cupboard and the boiler in a separate location. These systems are a little out of date but still serve many homes today.
Main Attributes of a Conventional System:
- Seperate hot water cylinder that heats the water
- As long as the water is heated it can send hot water to many taps without losing pressure
- Add immersion to heat up water in emergency
- Not as energy efficient solution as a condensing boiler
- Possible problems with leakages from separate cold water tank.
- Lots of different tanks/cylinders to maintain and store
- Older out of date technolog
- More costly to run
- Cold water feeder tank in the loft
3. System Boilers
These are like a conventional boiler but there is no need for the feeder and header tank in the loft. They still contain a separate hot water cylinder and can have an immersion heater added to the system in case of emergency.
Main Attributes of a System Boiler
- Separate hot water cylinder that heats the water
- As long as the water is heated it can send hot water to many taps without losing pressure
- Good for larger family homes using multiple bathrooms
- Add immersion to heat up water in emergency
- Not as energy efficient solution as a condensing boiler
- Cylinders to maintain older out of date technology.

How much could I save each year?
The answer to this question will depend on whether you have an efficient boiler installed and which fuel it uses. Here are some examples of the difference between an ‘A’ rated condensing boiler that makes use of a room thermostat, a programmer and thermostatic radiator controls and other boiler types. These savings per year are as follows:
What is ERP – Energy Rating System for Boilers
The new Energy Related Product Directive known as the ERP is the introduced to reduce carbon emission targets by 2020. ERP relates to all energy products sold in the EU. All boilers now have a rating through this scheme from G = bad with A = Good.
This rating system is to ensure all homeowners are aware of the efficiency of the products they are purchasing. Older outdated boilers are rated a G as they only have an efficiency rating at 50 – 70%. New condensing boilers offer great energy savings as they are now 89 – 93% efficient. Almost all new boilers supplied since 2003 have been of the more fuel efficient condensing type. These boilers have efficiencies of 90% upwards and are ‘A’ rated. Older boilers can often be G rated or 50-70% efficient so by switching to a condensing boiler you should save money on your fuel bills. The single most important bit of advice we can give you is that choosing the wrong boiler can cost you literally £1000’s in the future, so choose wisely and buy right.
Power Flush Your Heating System Can Save You Serious Cash
With most people finding that utility bills are now their second largest bill each year, after mortgage or rent payments, it’s important to resolve this costly issue. Your heating bill could be costing far too much every year, and you may not know why. Most homeowners aren’t aware of the fact that corrosion inside heating system pipes can block freshly heated water from travelling to radiators. The corrosion could be so bad that blocked pipes may prevent the temperature from reaching the specified thermostat guide, so your boiler will just keep running and running and running. This will mean far more £££s added to the bill than you should be paying. Fortunately, technology has advanced so that it’s now possible to clear out corrosion from pipes of old systems. You can say goodbye to thick corrosion that is stopping your rooms from reaching their warm temperature potential each winter. The reason why corrosion stops water running freely is that it creates a sludge. Even just one deep power-flush clean can remove this sludge and make it possible for pipes and radiators to heat up properly without any cold spots. Cleaning can result in a system that has a longer lifespan and reduces the risk of needing maintenance, or even worse, complete breakdowns. None of us want that to happen, especially over Christmas and New Year, when it can be very cold and inconvenient.
Adding a Magnetic Filtration System
These filters will help to reduce the amount of sludge that builds up in your radiators. Recommended by heating engineers, these filters will help to keep your system more efficient and will reducthe damage that can be caused by the dirt in your system. Adding a magnetic filter can cost between £120 – £200 but could save you much more in the long run.
Thermostatic Radiator Valves – TVR
Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) are fitted to radiators and are used to control the temperature within the room. When used properly, they will significantly reduce the energy used by the heating system by limiting the temperatures within each room, and prevent overheating.
