There’s no 32kW model in the Ideal Logic Max combi range. Ideal makes the Logic Max combi in three sizes, C24, C30 and C35, and the C30 is the one most people searching for a “Logic Max 32” actually need.
The 32kW Ideal combi you may have seen quoted is the Vogue Max C32, which belongs to Ideal’s premium range. This review covers the Logic Max C30: a compact 30kW combi with 12.4 litres per minute of hot water and an Ideal System Filter in the box. It’s still on sale as the Logic Max Combi2 C30, and it suits three bedroom homes with one bathroom.

Is There An Ideal Logic Max 32kW?
No. The Logic Max combi comes in 24kW, 30kW and 35kW versions only.
Older articles, including a previous version of this page, sometimes described the range as running from 26kW to 40kW. Those are the sizes of the Vogue range, not the Logic Max.
If you’ve been quoted a 32kW Ideal combi, check the model name. It’ll almost certainly be a Vogue Max C32, with 32kW of hot water output, 26kW of heating output and a stainless steel heat exchanger. That’s a different boiler at a different price. If you’re choosing between the two, our Ideal boiler comparison lays out the ranges.
What Is The Ideal Logic Max C30?
It’s the middle size in the top tier of Ideal’s Logic family, sitting above the Logic and Logic+. The three tiers share the same compact case and the same outputs.
What the Max adds is an Ideal System Filter supplied with the boiler, plus a large colour screen on the current Combi2 version.
The filter is the part that matters most. It catches the black iron oxide sludge that builds up in radiators and pipework, which is a common cause of blocked heat exchangers and lost efficiency. You can fit a filter with any boiler, but having it in the box means it doesn’t get left off a cheap quote.
The “30” is the hot water output, at 30.3kW. Heating output is 24.2kW, the same as the C24 and C35, and the boiler modulates down to 6.1kW when demand is low.
What Features Does The Logic Max C30 Have?
The headline feature is the Ideal System Filter in the box, backed up by a large colour display and a cupboard-sized case.
- Ideal System Filter included
- Large colour display with a simple menu
- Fits inside a standard kitchen cupboard
- Low lift weight, which helps on awkward installs
- Fully serviceable from the front
- Built-in frost protection
- Works with Ideal’s Halo smart thermostat and most other mainstream controls
- LPG conversion available
How Efficient Is The Ideal Logic Max C30?
It’s A-rated for heating and hot water, with a seasonal heating efficiency of 94%. That puts it level with most condensing combis on sale today.
On running costs, the boiler is only part of the picture.
Insulation, radiator sizes and how you use your controls make a bigger difference than a percentage point of efficiency. Running the boiler at a lower flow temperature lets it condense more often, and that’s where the savings come from. A smart thermostat helps by stopping the heating firing when nobody’s home.
The included filter helps too. A clean system heats up faster and keeps the heat exchanger working properly, so efficiency holds up for longer.
What Are The Pros And Cons Of The Logic Max C30?
It’s compact and comes with the filter you’d want anyway, but it won’t run two showers well and heating is capped at 24.2kW.
Pros
- System filter included, so one of the most useful extras is already covered
- 12.4 litres per minute is a good match for a typical three bedroom home
- Compact and light, with a straightforward install
- Clear colour screen that’s easy to read
- Still in production, with spares and support widely available
Cons
- Not suited to two showers running at the same time
- Aluminium alloy heat exchanger, where the Vogue Max uses stainless steel
- Heating output is capped at 24.2kW, which can be limiting in very large homes
- Costs a little more than the Logic+ C30, which has the same outputs
What Size Home Does The Logic Max C30 Suit?
It’s a good fit for a two to three bedroom home with one bathroom. At 12.4 litres per minute, it runs a mixer shower comfortably and copes better than a 24kW combi when someone turns on a tap elsewhere.
Got a bathroom and an en suite, or a household that showers back to back every morning? The Logic Max C35 gives you 14.5 litres per minute in the same size case. Read our Ideal Logic Max C35 review for that model.
For a flat or small house, the C24 is usually enough.
Check your mains water before you choose. A combi can only deliver what your incoming supply allows, so a weak mains will hold back any size of boiler. Our guide on how to size a combi boiler explains what to look for.
How Much Does A Logic Max C30 Cost To Install In 2026?
Expect a guide price of £2,000 to £2,800 for a like-for-like swap, including VAT. Moving the boiler or converting to a combi costs more.
| Type of job | Guide installed price |
| Like-for-like combi swap, same position | £2,000 to £2,800 |
| Combi swap with boiler relocated | £2,600 to £3,500 |
| Conversion from system or regular boiler to combi | £3,100 to £4,400 |
These are typical figures, not quotes. The flue, any gas pipe upgrade, the condition of your existing system and your choice of controls all move the price.
Because the filter’s already included, compare quotes carefully. A cheaper Logic+ quote can end up at a similar price once a filter is added. Our guide to new boiler costs goes through what a fair quote should include, and boiler finance lets you spread the cost.
What Are The Best Alternatives To The Logic Max C30?
For more hot water, the Logic Max C35 is the obvious step up; for a true 32kW Ideal, it’s the Vogue Max C32.
- Ideal Logic Max C35: more hot water in the same case, at 14.5 litres per minute.
- Ideal Vogue Max C32: the actual 32kW Ideal combi, with 13.1 litres per minute, 26kW heating output and a stainless steel heat exchanger.
- Ideal Logic+ C30: the same outputs without the filter in the box.
- Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000: a strong alternative if you’d rather have a Worcester. See our Worcester Bosch vs Ideal comparison.
Is The Ideal Logic Max C30 Worth It?
Yes, for most three bedroom homes with one bathroom. It’s compact and efficient, and it comes with the filter you should be fitting anyway.
If you were searching for a 32kW Logic Max, the C30 will cover most of the same homes. The Vogue Max C32 is there if you need more heating output or want stainless steel.
Choose It If
- You have a two or three bedroom home with one bathroom
- You want a filter included rather than added on
- The boiler needs to fit in a kitchen cupboard
- Your heating demand is comfortably under 24kW
Look Elsewhere If
- You regularly run two showers at once
- You need more than 24kW for heating, in which case the Vogue Max C32 or C40 is a better fit
- You want a stainless steel heat exchanger
