Which are the Best Combi Boiler Review 2019
Which are the Best Boiler Reviews
There is a big difference between the best and worst boilers on the market. The best combi boilers save you money through efficiency as well as requiring less maintenance. The worst boilers are not as environmentally friendly and will cost you more over time through larger energy bills and repair costs.
The annual boiler report by Which? Magazine showed that the worst boilers were more than twice as likely to break as the best. This could see you without central heating or hot water when you need it the most, all due to a poor quality boiler. After any new boiler installation, you want peace of mind that you can keep the radiators warm when the temperature drops and you expect that to be the case for a good while after fitting.
The Which? study found that, after seven years following installation, the most reliable brand’s models were 86% fault-free, whereas a massive 52% of those who had purchased the least reliable brand had discovered a major issue with their boiler.
It took into account the views of 12,000 boiler owners across the UK, as well as 166 heating engineers who had achieved Which? Trusted Trader status. The combined knowledge of the experts and experiences of the customers mean that it is a definitive look into the best and worst boilers on offer. This can help you identify the models to avoid, as well as those to consider.
Worst Boilers 2019

Which? found that the worst boiler brand in terms of feedback from customers and engineers was Ferroli. This Italian boiler brand has a UK base in Burton-on-Trent, but was not a hit with consumers or experts. Customers scored the boiler company a disappointing two stars out of five, with engineers awarding it with just one star. The firm scored three out of five for reliability.
Ferroli’s overall review score was a disappointing 35%, some way behind the second-worst reviewed company Vokera, which scored 50%. Where Ferroli particularly fell down with engineers was hen it came to the ease of fixing a common fault and the technical support the company offers. Many of the engineers also left damning statements, such as this: “Its [Ferroli’s] boilers are unreliable and cheap, with expensive parts; they’re very poorly designed and manufactured.” Another stated “It’s particularly difficult to identify faults on these boilers and diagnose them. The availability of parts isn’t as good as some manufacturers on the market.’
Engineers found fault with the build quality of Ferroli boilers, as well as with those supplied by other companies such as Vokera and Ariston. This is invaluable information for anyone wondering which boiler to choose from the array on offer.
Worst Combi Boilers

The worst performing boiler brand in the Which? survey , Ferroli, produces a number of combi boilers. These have been ranked among the worst combi boilers on the market according to both customers and heating engineers. In its review of the Ferroli HE 27C, Which? couldn’t find a single positive point to encourage customers to buy that model. Other combi boilers from the firm include the HE 32C and the HE38C. As of 2019, these are designated as the worst combi boilers according to these insights.
As well as identifying the brands that prodce boilers that don’t meet the high standards required by most consumers, it is also worth noting that any combi boiler can underperform if it is not suited to the property in which it is used.
For example, installing a boiler that is over-powered for the number of bedrooms, radiators and bathrooms will mean that it doesn’t run efficiently and won’t provide the desired savings on your fuel bill. Even if it is an efficient model, it cannot provide the savings if it is unsuitable for the environment. Similarly, a small combi boiler may be perfect for a one-bedroom flat, but will not produce enough heat or hot water for a four-bedroom house.
