The Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 30 is the largest combi in Vaillant’s ecoTEC Pro range. It’s a wall-hung gas condensing boiler for single-bathroom homes with higher hot water demand. Think of a three-bedroom family house where the shower and kitchen tap are often running together. If the ecoTEC pro 30 suits your home, our Vaillant boiler installation service covers supply, fitting and registration.
It’s still a current model in 2026. The Pro 30 shares the same compact casing as the Pro 24 and Pro 28, so it fits wherever they fit. What you’re paying extra for is hot water. Heating output is almost identical to the Pro 28, but the flow rate goes up to 12.3 litres per minute.
What Are The Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 30’s Key Specs?
The ecoTEC Pro 30 gives 12.3 litres per minute of hot water and up to 25.7kW for heating, and it’s A-rated for both.

What Is The Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 30?
It’s the top model in Vaillant’s mainstream ecoTEC Pro combi range, built to give more hot water rather than more heat.
The Pro range comes in 24kW, 28kW and 30kW sizes. Above it sit the ecoTEC plus, which Vaillant remastered in 2023, and the premium ecoTEC exclusive. Our Vaillant ecoTEC Pro range guide shows the three Pro models side by side.
Central heating output peaks at 25.7kW, which is actually a touch below the Pro 28’s 25.9kW. Hot water output rises to around 30kW, though, and the flow rate to 12.3 litres per minute. If your radiators get warm enough but your shower goes weak when someone else uses a tap, the Pro 30 is the model that fixes it.
A Pro 30 won’t heat a large, draughty house any better than a Pro 28. It’ll give you more hot water at the tap.
What Features Does The ecoTEC Pro 30 Have?
Its standout feature is the highest hot water flow in the Pro range, backed by a pre-heat, a modulating burner, quiet running and smart control support.
How Much More Hot Water Does It Give?
About 10% more than the Pro 28 and nearly 30% more than the Pro 24, at 12.3 litres per minute. That’s enough for a good mixer shower with some headroom, provided your mains supply can keep up.
What Does The Hot Water Pre-Heat Do?
It keeps a little water hot inside the boiler, so hot water reaches the tap faster. You can switch it off to save the small amount of gas it uses.
Does The Burner Modulate?
Yes. The burner adjusts its output to match demand rather than running flat out.
In mild weather, steady low-output running is more efficient than repeated short cycles and puts less wear on parts.
Is It Bigger Than The Pro 24 And Pro 28?
No. At 720 x 440 x 338mm, the Pro 30 is exactly the same size as the smaller Pro models. It fits a standard kitchen cupboard, and moving up from a Pro 24 or 28 doesn’t need any more space.
Is The ecoTEC Pro 30 Quiet?
Yes. It carries Quiet Mark accreditation, which is handy if the boiler sits in an open-plan kitchen or near a bedroom.
Does It Work With Smart Controls?
Yes. It works with Vaillant’s sensoHOME and sensoCOMFORT controls, with the myVAILLANT app via an internet gateway, and with standard programmers and thermostats. Our smart thermostats page explains the options.
How Efficient Is The ecoTEC Pro 30?
It’s ErP A-rated for heating and hot water, and Vaillant quotes around 93% efficiency.
Day to day, its running costs will be very close to a Pro 28 in the same home, because heating output is almost the same. You only use more gas when you draw more hot water.
Set-up has a big effect on bills. A lower flow temperature lets the boiler condense more of the time, and weather or load compensation helps it run gently. In England, Boiler Plus rules require a new combi to have time and temperature control plus one extra energy-saving measure.
An annual service keeps the burner, heat exchanger and condensate trap in good order. Skipped services usually show up later as higher gas use and more breakdowns.
What Are The Pros And Cons Of The ecoTEC Pro 30?
Its main strength is the best hot water flow in the Pro range without a bigger casing. Its main weakness is that it gives no more heating output than the cheaper Pro 28.
Pros
- Highest hot water flow in the ecoTEC Pro range at 12.3 litres per minute
- Same compact casing as the Pro 24 and Pro 28
- A-rated for heating and hot water
- Quiet Mark accredited
- Works with Vaillant smart controls and the myVAILLANT app
- Well known to engineers, with parts widely stocked
Cons
- No more heating output than the Pro 28
- Still a single-bathroom boiler in most homes
- No LPG version in the 30kW size
- Less flow than an ecoTEC plus 832 at a similar size
- Extra hot water capacity is wasted if your mains supply is weak
What Size Home Does The ecoTEC Pro 30 Suit?
It suits three-bedroom homes with one main bathroom and up to around 15 radiators.
It’s a good match for busy households where a shower and a kitchen or basin tap often run together. It also works where a small en-suite gets used at different times from the main bathroom.
It isn’t a two-bathroom boiler, though. If two showers regularly run at once, look at a larger ecoTEC plus such as the 836 or 840, or a system boiler with a cylinder. Our system boiler reviews cover that option.
Before you pick a Pro 30 over a Pro 28, check the mains. A combi can only deliver what your incoming supply provides. Fit a 12.3 litre per minute boiler on a supply that only gives 10 litres per minute and you’ve wasted money. We measure this at the survey, and our guide on how to size a combi boiler has more detail.
How Much Does An ecoTEC Pro 30 Cost To Install In 2026?
A straight combi swap typically costs £2,100 to £2,900 fitted, and a conversion from a system or regular boiler runs to around £4,000.
These guide ranges cover supply and installation, including a standard flue, a magnetic filter, a chemical flush and basic controls.
| Type of job | Guide installed price |
| Combi to combi swap, same position | £2,100 to £2,900 |
| Combi swap with boiler moved or new flue route | £2,700 to £3,500 |
| System or regular boiler converted to combi | £3,000 to £4,000 |
These figures are a guide and prices vary by job. The condition of your pipework, the flue route, gas supply and your choice of controls all affect the final figure.

What Are The Best Alternatives To The ecoTEC Pro 30?
The Pro 28 is the cheaper option if your hot water use is modest, while the ecoTEC plus 832 and 836 give more flow.
- Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 28: 11.1 litres per minute and usually a little cheaper. Often enough for a three-bedroom home with modest hot water use.
- Vaillant ecoTEC plus 832: 13 litres per minute, a stainless steel heat exchanger and a much wider modulation range.
- Vaillant ecoTEC plus 836: 14.6 litres per minute for homes that need more hot water than any Pro model can give.
- Other brands: compare options in our best combi boiler reviews.
Is The Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 30 Worth It?
Yes, if hot water is your bottleneck and your mains supply can feed it.
It gives a busy single-bathroom home a little more headroom than the Pro 28 without taking up any more space. If your current boiler struggles with heating rather than hot water, the Pro 30 isn’t the answer, because its heating output is no higher.
Choose It If
- You have a three-bedroom home with one main bathroom
- Your shower and kitchen tap often run at the same time
- Your mains water supply is strong
- You want the most hot water possible from a compact Vaillant combi
Look Elsewhere If
- You have two bathrooms used at the same time
- Your home runs on LPG
- Your mains flow is limited, in which case the Pro 28 does the same job
- You want the wider modulation and stainless steel heat exchanger of the ecoTEC plus

Frequently Asked Questions
Is The Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 30 Discontinued?
No. The ecoTEC Pro 30 is still part of Vaillant’s current range in 2026, alongside the Pro 24 and Pro 28.
What Is The Difference Between The ecoTEC Pro 28 And Pro 30?
The Pro 30 gives more hot water: 12.3 litres per minute against 11.1 for the Pro 28. Heating output is almost the same, and both use the same casing.
Can The ecoTEC Pro 30 Handle Two Bathrooms?
Not if both showers run at the same time. It can work with a main bathroom and a small en-suite used at different times. Homes with two busy bathrooms are better off with a larger ecoTEC plus or a system boiler.
Is There An LPG Version Of The ecoTEC Pro 30?
No. In the ecoTEC Pro range, only the 28kW model comes in an LPG version. Our LPG and oil boilers page covers off-grid options.
How Often Should The ecoTEC Pro 30 Be Serviced?
Once a year, by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Regular servicing keeps it running safely and makes a winter breakdown less likely.
