Air to Air Heat Pump Servicing Plans

Like any heat pump, an air to air system runs best when it’s looked after. Regular servicing keeps the filters clean, checks the refrigerant circuit and keeps the system running efficiently, so small issues are fixed before they become bigger problems. We offer ongoing cover through our Clever Care servicing plans, so your system keeps performing long after installation.

Is An Air to Air Heat Pump Right For My Home?

Air to air heat pumps suit homes that want efficient room heating without the cost and disruption of a full wet heating system. They work well in living rooms, bedrooms, extensions, loft conversions and home offices, and in flats or smaller homes they can replace plug-in or storage heaters altogether. They don’t heat your hot water, so you’ll still need a separate way to do that. If you’d rather have one system for radiators and hot water, an air source heat pump may suit you better. Our guide to air to air vs air to water heat pumps explains the differences, or we can assess your property and recommend the right option.

The Benefits Of An Air to Air Heat Pump

An air to air heat pump moves heat from the outside air into your rooms, giving you several units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses. That makes it much cheaper to run than plug-in or storage heaters, and in summer the same system runs in reverse to cool your home. Installation costs far less than a full air source system because there’s no cylinder or radiator circuit to fit, and eligible homes can claim £2,500 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Each room has its own temperature control, so you only heat the spaces you’re using.

    Frequently Asked Questions

An air to air heat pump takes heat from the outside air and blows warm air into your rooms through wall-mounted indoor units. In summer it runs in reverse to cool them. It doesn’t use radiators or heat hot water. Our guide to air to air heat pumps explained covers how they work in more detail.

Yes. Since 28 April 2026, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £2,500 towards an air to air heat pump in eligible homes in England and Wales. You need to own the home, be replacing fossil fuel or electric heating and use an MCS-certified installer. Read our air to air heat pump grant guide for the full eligibility rules.

The equipment is similar, but an air to air heat pump is chosen and sized mainly to heat your home, with cooling as a bonus. Air conditioning is usually sized for cooling first. See our guide to air to air heat pumps vs air conditioning, or visit our air conditioning installation page if cooling is your main need.

No. Air to air heat pumps heat and cool the air in your rooms only, so you’ll need a separate way to heat water, such as an immersion heater or existing boiler. For heating and hot water from one system, consider an air source heat pump.

Many single-room systems can be installed in a day. Multi-room systems take longer, depending on the number of indoor units, the pipe runs and where the outdoor unit can go at your property.

Yes. Regular servicing keeps filters clean and the system running efficiently. We offer ongoing cover through our Clever Care servicing plans.
